The perfect playlist: 13 classic tunes for the road

Some songs were just made for driving.

1. Queen – Don’t Stop Me

The ultimate driving tune. Although we would advise against “travelling at the speed of light”. You should also stop at red lights and stop signs.

2. Madness – Driving in My Car

You might not believe it but, if you listen carefully, this 80s ska hit is actually all about driving a car.

3. The Jam – Town Called Malice

This punk rock classic is especially fitting if you’re planning a nice drive to the small town of Malice in south-central Poland.

4. The Commitments – Mustang Sally

You don’t need to drive a Mustang to enjoy this soulful classic. A Škoda Octavia will suffice.

5. Fleetwood Mac – Go Your Own Way

Get behind the wheel and go your own way... As long as your own way isn’t down a one-way street or through a pedestrianised area.

6. Survivor – Eye of the Tiger

Learner drivers: This is perfect training montage music for the weeks leading up to your driving test.

7. Meat Loaf – Bat Out of Hell

Bats can fly at up to 100 kph which is also the speed limit on national primary and secondary roads in Ireland.

8. REO Speedwagon – Can’t Fight This Feeling

Slow things down with this rock anthem from REO Speedwagon. And remember to slow your own speedwagon down when driving in adverse weather conditions or through residential areas.

9. Toto - Africa

Interesting fact: Not a single human has ever known the lyrics to the chorus of this song. Not even Toto.

10. AC/DC – Highway to Hell

Hate your job? This song is the perfect soundtrack to your morning commute.

11. Steppenwolf – Born To Be Wild

“Get your motor running… Get out on the highway... Adhere to the rules of the road.”

12. Kenny Loggins – Danger Zone

Do you have the need, the need for travelling at the appropriate speed? Channel your inner Maverick with this legendary song from the Top Gun soundtrack.

13. Whitesnake – Here I Go Again

Perfect for people with no friends who drive up and down the same road all day.

Safe travels,
