7 quick and easy parking tips
1. Take your time
There’s no hurry. Don’t allow yourself to be pressurised by other drivers. It’s more important to be safe than to simply get out of their way.
Even little dings can end up costing a pretty penny.
2. Think ahead
If possible, reverse into a parking space in a car park. It’s safer to drive out into traffic than it is to reverse.
3. Look around
Don’t rely solely on your car’s parking sensors. Check your mirrors and look over your shoulders regularly when you’re reversing.
4. Practice, practice, practice
If you’re struggling to get the hang of parallel parking, take the time to practice. It really is true what they say, practice makes perfect.
5. Remember when your ticket runs out
If there’s a time limit on your parking space, set your alarm to remind you when you need to return.
6. Remember where you're parked
Make a note of where you’ve parked your car, especially if you’re in a new city or in a large multi-storey car park.
7. Think ahead
Keep some change in your car so you’ll always have the right money to use in a parking meter.
